precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o sobre o nordeste Brasileiro no
per{\'{\i}}odo de 1963 a 1980. Foram observados padr{\~o}es de
onda de escala planet{\'a}ria no campo de [zeta]' similares aos
mencionados em trabalhos te{\'o}ricos e observacionais. Dentre os
aspectos de maior interesse, est{\'a} a coer{\^e}ncia temporal
da fase do padr{\~a}o encontrado sobre o Hemisf{\'e}rio Norte e
o regime pluviom{\'e}trico sobre o Nordeste. Tal coer{\^e}ncia
de fase, em adi{\c{c}}{\~a}o a ocorr{\^e}ncia de anomalias de
TSM no Atl{\^a}ntico Tropical (com {\'a}guas mais quentes ao
norte e mais frias ao sul do equador em anos de seca, e o inverso
em anos de alta pluviosidade), parece indicar que tanto a
exist{\^e}ncia dos padr{\~o}es de onda de escala global no campo
de [zeta]' quanto a variabilidade pluviom{\'e}trica sobre o
Nordeste s{\~a}o, respectivamente, as respostas remota e local da
atmosfera {\`a} for{\c{c}}ante t{\'e}rmica tropical. ABSTRACT:
An analysis in the monthly departure of the relative vorticily
field ([zeta]') over the globe and monthly departures of the sea
surface temperature (SST) in the Tropical Atlantic Ocean is
performed for years of droughts and floods over Northeast Brazil,
in the period from 1963 to 1980. Planetary scale wavelike patterns
were observed in the [zeta]' field, similar to those found in
previous theoritical and observational studies. Of major interest,
it is the phase coherence of the wavelike patterns of circulation
anomalies over the Northern Hemisphere and the precipitation
regime over Northeast Brazil. Such phase coherence, in addition to
the occorrence of SST anomalies in the Tropical Atlantic Ocean
(with warver waters in the north and colder in the south of the
equator for drought years, and the reverse for flood years),
indicates that the existence of global scale wavelike patterns in
[zeta]' field, as well as the variability of the precipitation
regime over Northeast Brazil are, respectively, the remote and
local response of the atmosphere to a tropical thermal forcing.",
